Bernardin has always been considered an important part of the Municipality of Piran and it represents the bond between two cities, Portorose and Piran. Since ancient times, this place was known for the remains of the Benedictine monastery, which has ceased to operate in the early 19th century, but it is still a major part of Bernardin. The place that housed the famous discotheque Arcadia, in the 80s and 90s, is currently the largest gaming center on the Slovenian coast, that has over 200 machines.
